The 80 AMP is a streaming integrated amplifier from Cyrus Audio's 80 Series, the company's first full-width range after forty years of half-width products. Cyrus first showed it in Munich in May 2025 and launched in November 2025 at GBP 5,399. The 80 Series also includes the 80 PRE streaming preamplifier and the 80 PWR power amplifier.

Key specs that matter

Output is 150 W per channel into 8 ohm from a Class A/B amplifier. The DAC is the ESS ES9039Q2M with HyperStream IV, in a dual DAC arrangement handling PCM up to 192 kHz and 24 bit and DSD256, with MQA also supported. BluOS handles streaming, making the 80 AMP the first Cyrus amplifier with this platform, alongside AirPlay 2, Roon Ready and Bluetooth aptX, with a built-in Wi-Fi antenna. Inputs include a phono stage for both cartridge types, four RCA line inputs, one XLR input, a pair each of coaxial and optical inputs, asynchronous USB-B, Ethernet and HDMI eARC. Outputs are RCA and XLR preamplifier outputs and a 6.3 mm headphone jack. A 127 mm colour TFT display shows status and track information. The amplifier measures 88 x 435 x 385 mm (H x W x D), weighs 20 kg and carries a 5-year warranty.

Engineering and use context

The 80 AMP has no fan, and the case itself acts as the heat sink for the Class A/B output stage, so it runs silently. Moving to a full-width chassis gave Cyrus room for a power supply inside the case that brings benefits which earlier half-width Cyrus designs could only reach with an external power supply unit, and the supply is over-specified for the rated output. BluOS adds multiroom playback and a single app for control, streaming services and library browsing, and it lets the 80 AMP join other BluOS players in the house. The phono stage is switchable for MM or MC pickups, and the XLR input suits sources with balanced outputs. HDMI eARC connects a television so its sound passes through the amplifier, and the asynchronous USB-B input takes audio from a computer with the DAC's own clock in control. The preamplifier outputs allow a subwoofer or a second power amplifier to be added, for example the 80 PWR for bi-amping.

Pairing

The 80 AMP drives most floorstanding and stand-mount speakers in a room of about 20 m2 or larger. The half-width Cyrus 40 CD player and 40 PPA phono stage can be combined with it to add disc playback and an upgraded vinyl stage.

The Cyrus 80 PRE separates the streaming and preamplifier section so it can be paired with the 200 W 80 PWR power amplifier.
