The 3510 Mono is a monoblock power amplifier from the British company Exposure, and it completes the 3510 series alongside the 3510 integrated amplifier and the 3510 pre and stereo power pairing. It borrows design elements from the higher 5010 range. The launch price was GBP 2,990 per pair, and buyers choose between black and titanium finishes.
Key specs that matter
Each unit delivers 100 W RMS into 8 ohm. Exposure quotes THD below 0.01 % at 1 kHz and rated power, and noise more than 110 dB below output, A-weighted and referenced to rated output. Response is within 0.5 dB from 20 Hz to 20 kHz and falls 3 dB at 60 kHz, referenced to 1 kHz. Input sensitivity is 1.75 V at 1 kHz on the unbalanced RCA input and 875 mV on the balanced XLR input, and the RCA input presents 50 kOhm. Each box is 115 mm high, 440 mm wide and 300 mm deep, and it weighs 12 kg on its own or 14 kg in the carton. Consumption is under 400 W into an 8 ohm load, and each unit leaves the factory configured for 110 to 120 V or 220 to 240 V at 50 or 60 Hz.
Engineering and use context
The circuit uses bipolar transistors throughout, built from selected parts, and the signal path is DC coupled all the way through. A large toroidal transformer made to order for Exposure feeds large smoothing capacitors, giving the output stage a current reserve, while the rails for the gain stage get electronic smoothing to keep noise low. Moving from one stereo chassis to two mono chassis gives each channel its own transformer and supply, so left and right draw on separate reserves of stored energy. Protection is handled by an electronic overload circuit that stays out of the signal path during normal use, backed by a thermal trip. Every panel of the case is aluminium, and the extruded fascia helps damp resonance and screen the circuit from stray electromagnetic fields.
Pairing
Having both balanced and unbalanced inputs lets the monos work with the 3510 preamplifier or with a preamplifier from another brand. Shrouded bi-wire output sockets take two runs of speaker cable per channel, and because the balanced input needs only half the drive voltage of the RCA input, a preamplifier with a modest output level can still push the monos to full power through XLR cables.
Alternatives
The Exposure 5010 mono power amplifier doubles the output to 200 W into 8 ohm and uses an 800 W transformer with eight power transistors per channel.
