The M6xi is an integrated amplifier in the M6 series from Musical Fidelity, announced in May 2026 at a British list price of GBP 2,699. The power circuitry traces back to the TITAN, the brand's top power amplifier, and inside one chassis it is laid out as two independent monobloc power amplifiers plus a separate preamplifier. To that analogue base Musical Fidelity added digital inputs with an internal converter, a television connection and an MM/MC phono section.

Key specs that matter

Musical Fidelity quotes 220 W per channel into 8 ohm and 320 W into 4 ohm at 1 percent THD and 1 kHz. Across 20 Hz to 20 kHz at 0.09 percent THD the figures are 210 W and 300 W, and peak output reaches 280 W into 8 ohm and 450 W into 4 ohm. Clipping begins at 43 V RMS, with 121 V peak-to-peak swing and 45 A peak-to-peak current from two pairs of output devices per channel, and damping factor is 49 into 8 ohm. Line inputs show under 0.007 percent THD+N from 20 Hz to 20 kHz, better than 107 dB signal to noise and 40 kohm input impedance. Engineering and use context

A Darlington arrangement is used in the output stage, chosen to improve linearity and reduce crossover distortion. Volume is set by a Burr-Brown stepped attenuator for accurate tracking between channels at every level. Digital inputs are decoded by a Texas Instruments PCM5242 converter, and the USB-C port accepts up to 24-bit/192 kHz. The phono stage gives 40 dB of gain for MM cartridges at 3 mV and 60 dB for MC at 0.4 mV, loads them with 50 kohm and 1 kohm, holds RIAA accuracy within 0.4 dB and reaches over 87 dB signal to noise. It also received extra internal isolation and shielding. A home theatre bypass input lets the M6xi act as the front left and right power amplifier under an AV processor. An RS232 connector is fitted, and a USB-A socket supplies 5 V at 2 A to power accessories. Mains is factory set for 115 V or 230 V, with 100 V as an alternative.

Pairing

The four RCA line inputs and the single balanced XLR, plus coaxial and optical digital, HDMI eARC for a television, USB-C for a computer and the phono input cover most sources without extra boxes. Two pairs of 4 mm binding posts are provided, and a constant-level tape output and a variable preamplifier output can feed a recorder or an external amplifier. Its low-impedance ratings and current delivery put demanding speakers within its range.
