The Jazz 70 is the smallest valve integrated amplifier in the Jazz range from Cayin, which also includes the larger Jazz 80, Jazz 90 and Jazz 100. It was announced in August 2026 with list prices of GBP 1,400 and EUR 1,598, with a black or a silver fascia on offer. The design pairs a classic EL34 push-pull output stage with a wireless receiver and a built-in converter, so one chassis covers both line sources and phone streaming.
Key specs that matter
Four matched EL34 output tubes run in Class AB1 push-pull, driven by three 12AU7/ECC82 tubes in the preamplifier section. A switch on the top plate selects the operating mode, giving 17 W RMS per channel in triode or 35 W RMS per channel in ultralinear. Cayin quotes a bandwidth of 8 Hz to 60 kHz at -3 dB and a noise floor 100 dB down, A-weighted. Distortion is 0.2 percent at 1 W and 1 kHz and stays under 5 percent at rated power. Three stereo RCA line inputs accept analogue sources, with a sensitivity of 380 mV and an input impedance of 100 kOhm. The chassis measures 300 x 338 x 190 mm, weighs 15.6 kg and draws up to 240 W from the mains.
Engineering and use context
The circuit is hand wired point to point instead of using a printed circuit board. Power comes from a hand-wound toroidal transformer chosen for low magnetic leakage, while the EI-core output transformers have a wide frequency response, which accounts for the extended bandwidth figure. Bias is set manually with an individual trim pot for each output tube, and two backlit meters on the front show either the bias reading or a VU display, so the valves can be checked after a tube change without opening the case. A removable metal cage protects the glass. The wireless module is built on a Qualcomm QCC5125 chipset with Bluetooth 5.1 and feeds an ESS ES9018K2M converter, and supported codecs are LDAC, aptX HD, aptX LL, aptX, AAC, MP3 and SBC. A remote handset is included.
Pairing
Separate 4 ohm and 8 ohm speaker terminals at the rear let the output transformer connection follow the rated load of whichever loudspeakers are used. With the lower triode rating, efficient speakers in a room of about 20 m2 suit that setting, while less sensitive designs call for the ultralinear position. The front headphone jack drives models from 16 to 300 ohm, which covers most dynamic headphones.
Alternatives
The Cayin Jazz 80 is the larger sibling in the same Jazz series of valve integrated amplifiers.
