The Heritage A200 is a stereo integrated amplifier from the French company YBA that combines an analogue power stage with a built-in DAC and Bluetooth receiver in one natural aluminium chassis. YBA released it in September 2018, and the model is now listed by the maker as discontinued. Its front panel is kept minimal, with two buttons for source and volume and an oval display in yellow lettering that shows the selected input and level, and the box includes a handset for remote use.

Key specs that matter

Rated output is 110 W per channel into 8 ohm and 165 W into 4 ohm. On the analogue side the A200 has five unbalanced RCA inputs and a single XLR input, and the digital side adds an optical input, a USB Type C input and Bluetooth 4.1. The converter chip is the AKM AK4490EQ, and over USB the amplifier accepts PCM up to 384 kHz at 32 bit and DSD256. The Bluetooth module is a CSR8675 with aptX and aptX HD. YBA gives a frequency response of 20 Hz to 20 kHz within 0.5 dB, S/N above 95 dB and THD plus noise below 0.04 percent. The case is 430 mm wide, 400 mm deep and 118 mm high, and the unit weighs 9.2 kg.

Engineering and use context

A linear supply feeds the circuits, with a 330 VA transformer. When an analogue source is in use, the supply to the digital section can be switched off entirely, so the DAC and Bluetooth circuits stay idle while a turntable stage or CD player is playing. The main power control sits on the underside of the case, not on the fascia. YBA mounts the case on three feet - two damped ones and a third in aluminium ending in a metal ball, which the maker treats as the point where vibration drains away. A video input with a bypass function allows the A200 to work at fixed gain inside a home cinema system, and a pre-out allows an extra amp or a powered sub to be added.

Pairing

One pair of speaker outputs is fitted, so bi-wiring needs suitable cables at the speaker end. The rise in output into 4 ohm shows that the power stage can deliver current into lower impedance loudspeakers, and a computer or streamer can be connected over USB without an external DAC. A phono stage is not listed among the inputs, so records need a separate RIAA stage before the A200. Since the Bluetooth receiver is built in, a phone or tablet can send music to the amplifier without an extra wireless adapter on the rack.

The YBA Heritage A100 is a lower-powered integrated model of the Heritage line, rated at 100 W into 8 ohm and 150 W into 4 ohm.
