French reel-to-reel tape recorder manufacturer Analog Audio Design has announced an upgrade to its famous Analog Audio Design TP-1000 model. This updated version of the R2R tape recorder, Analog Audio Design TP-1100, uses a direct drive, which should improve stability and playback quality.

Among other updates, the Analog Audio Design TP-1100 now supports playback speeds up to 30 inches per second. A switchable output stage has also been added: the built-in module can be disabled, and an option to output the signal directly from the system's heads allows for connecting an external preamplifier/corrector.

As a reminder, the Analog Audio Design recorders was one of the world's first modern reel-to-reel tape recorders designed from the scratch. The devices supports software updates via the internet and offers expanded functionality for adjusting to different tape types.
