High End Munich 2025 Systems - Davis Acoustics THE STAGE

A single French two-way floorstander, THE STAGE from Davis Acoustics, makes up the whole system in this listening space at High End Munich 2025.

Davis lists it at EUR 4,500. It is a near-exact scaled version of THE WALL, standing 100 cm high instead of 130, 50 cm wide instead of 70 and 22 cm deep instead of 30, and one boxed speaker weighs 35 kg. The design targets a neo-vintage cabinet look and full-range bass without a large box.

Davis rates THE STAGE at 91.5 dB with a 4 ohm impedance, 100 W nominal and 150 W maximum power handling, and a response of 40 Hz to 20 kHz within 3 dB. The 25 cm Kevlar mid-woofer was created for this model. It shares the phase plug, core diameter, TiCoNAl magnet motor and cone material of the 20 TK8 R, a long-running Davis driver, but is larger and has a voice coil revised for control of the lowest notes. It hands over at 3,500 Hz to the same tweeter used in THE WALL, a 25 mm unit with a glass fibre and aramid cone instead of a dome. The cabinet is bass reflex, and its circular port sits on the side panel, so the owner can turn it toward the wall or toward the room depending on the acoustics and the amount of bass wanted. With that sensitivity and a 4 ohm load, the speaker accepts a broad choice of amplifiers, provided the amplifier is specified for 4 ohm operation and delivers steady current into it.
