Dutch company Lyssna Acoustics, founded by Ruud Moerman and Kobus Oomen, has unveiled its debut loudspeaker system, the Lyssna Modular. The key feature of the new model is its modular architecture, which allows compact two-way monitors to be upgraded into full-fledged three-way floorstanding speakers. This approach enables owners to gradually improve their audio systems while retaining their existing components. The Lyssna Modular will make its public debut at Dutch Audio Event 2026, taking place on October 10–11 in the Netherlands.

At the heart of the system is the compact two-way Lyssna Modular Monitor, designed for standalone use, including with the dedicated Lyssna Stands. It features a specially optimized 4.5-inch midrange/woofer driver responsible for reproducing much of the midrange spectrum. When developing the crossover, the engineers sought to minimize the number of components in the signal path. To expand the monitor's capabilities, Lyssna Acoustics has developed the optional Lyssna Modular Bass Module, which fits directly beneath the main cabinet and connects through a built-in connector without requiring external cables.

The Lyssna Modular Bass Module features a 7.5-inch woofer and a passive radiator of the same diameter. Once connected, the system becomes a three-way configuration, with the larger driver taking over bass reproduction. By redistributing the frequency workload, the monitor's 4.5-inch driver can focus primarily on the midrange frequencies. According to the developers, this architecture is intended to deliver deeper, more articulate bass, a greater sense of scale, and improved dynamic capabilities.

The Lyssna Modular combines minimalist Scandinavian aesthetics with softly contoured cabinets. The speakers are handcrafted in Europe, bringing together Dutch design expertise and Czech traditions of loudspeaker cabinet manufacturing. Four matte finishes will be available: Graphite, Petrol, Ultramarine, and Cream. Alongside the presentation at Dutch Audio Event on October 10, 2026, the company plans to launch a 30-day Kickstarter crowdfunding campaign to finance its first production run. The founders of Lyssna Acoustics emphasize that the loudspeaker design has already been fully developed and is ready for production.
