fonolab has announced a reference-grade balanced MC transformer (also available in an MC+MM version, featuring a dedicated MM input with a 1:2 balanced interface stage). Unlike many solutions currently on the market, the fonolab SVPER QVATTVOR Quinquennial is designed to work with multiple MC cartridges.

Each channel operates via matched transformer pairs in a fully balanced configuration. The unit provides two independent MC inputs, each supporting both RCA and XLR connection formats. The RCA input functions as a floating differential interface, ensuring true balanced signal processing within the transformer itself.

The fonolab SVPER QVATTVOR Quinquennial offers switchable ratios of 1:33 / 1:10, input impedance of 0 - 5 / 40 ohms, an output impedance of 4,000 ohms, a frequency response of 10 Hz to 120,000 Hz (+0.5 dB / –1.0 dB) and maintains a channel balance accuracy within 0.5 dB.
