Linn builds the 360 Exakt Integrated as a self-contained active floorstander in which the drive units, their amplifiers and the digital filtering form one engineered system. It arrived in April 2023 as the fully integrated sibling of the part-active 360 PWAB, and the two variants share one cabinet shape. What sets the 360 apart mechanically is its bass section, built around long-stroke woofers that Linn designed to move much further than those of its earlier Klimax 350.
Key specs that matter
Each side of the four-way system carries five drivers. The two lower bass units are 220 mm long-throw aluminium cones, and Linn states that their excursion is more than twice that of the Klimax 350 woofers. Above them sit a 190 mm aluminium-magnesium upper bass cone, a 64 mm midrange dome of thin-ply woven carbon and a 19 mm tweeter. The internal air volume is 60 litres. Each speaker measures 411 mm in width, 1141 mm of height and 484 mm of depth, and weighs 66.4 kg. Frequency coverage extends from 20 Hz up to 32 kHz at ±2 dB, and the woofer pair is driven by Power DAC amplifiers of 500 W each into 4 ohm.
Engineering and use context
Early production used a beryllium dome tweeter. Speakers made before September 2024 therefore carry a warning to leave the grille intact, and current production uses a thin-ply woven carbon dome for the tweeter as well. The Pistonik motor system for the bass drivers uses a very large magnet for the unit size to allow a super-long stroke. Its voice coil is copper-shielded to limit eddy currents, the magnet housing and coil former are ventilated to shed heat, and the unit has twin spiders to control its suspension. Linn modelled this motor in COMSOL Multiphysics software. The baffle is formed from 3D laminates with radii shaped around each driver. Cabinet finishes come in three groups - Classic with Walnut, Alpine White or Piano Black, Signature with Triton, and Glasgow with Linn Heritage, Clyde Built or Single Malt - while driver trim is anodised in black or silver and bespoke colours can be ordered.
Pairing
The speaker takes its signal over Exakt link, either from an Exakt master or from another Exakt slave already connected to that master, and passes it on through its own output. During setup each unit is assigned a channel such as front left or front right and given a filter version, and the whole configuration is then uploaded into the loudspeaker, which takes a few minutes.
Alternatives
The Linn 150 is a passive three-way floorstander with a 40 litre cabinet and Nextel-coated paper mid and bass cones.
