Revival Audio, a company set up in 2021 whose speakers are developed in France, offers the ATALANTE 4 as a three-way tower. Co-founder Jacky Lee runs the business as CEO, and chief technical officer Daniel Emonts previously spent more than three decades at Altec-Lansing, Focal-JMLab and Dynaudio. It is part of the Atalante series, whose driver technology was later carried over into the Sprint range. Revival states that the 5.25 inch midrange used here was the first BSC midrange driver ever fitted in a high end loudspeaker.
Key specs that matter
Revival fits four drivers in every tower - a 28 mm soft-dome tweeter, the BSC midrange and two 7 inch woofers. Crossover points sit at 550 Hz and 3.0 kHz. Output extends from 38 Hz to 22 kHz at the -3 dB points, and sensitivity is 89 dB at 2.83 V and 1 m. Nominal impedance is 4 ohm, dipping to a minimum of 3.2 ohm at 120 Hz. Maximum power handling is 200 W, and the brand advises at least 30 to 50 W. Each speaker measures 1200 mm high, 345 mm wide and 395 mm deep and weighs 38 kg. Revival suggests rooms of 30 to 60 m2.
Engineering and use context
The tweeter uses ARID, the patented inner dome treatment Revival applies against reflections inside the tweeter. All three cone drivers are built with Basalt Sandwich Construction, and assigning a dedicated midrange above the lower crossover point relieves the pair of woofers from covering the voice band. The crossover is hand-tuned with a minimal number of parts, and its internal wiring uses Van den Hul Skyline Hybrid cable. The cabinet is clad in hand-picked walnut veneer and carries a belt and knot detail with a laser-etched logo. A two-piece grille covers the front, and a spike set allows fine height adjustment on uneven floors.
Pairing
Watch the minimum impedance in the upper bass. Amplification that remains stable near 3 ohm and delivers current freely is the sensible match, and integrated or pre and power combinations of that kind drive the speaker without strain. Valve amplifiers with low-impedance taps may work, but a solid state design is the safer pick given the low impedance region. The speaker suits medium to large living rooms, in line with the space recommendation from the maker.
Alternatives
For a slimmer tower from the same maker, the Revival Sprint 4 is a 2.5-way floorstander with two woofers.
