Albedo Audio builds the ACCLARA as a 3-way floorstanding tower, and the Italian firm, located at Via Pantanelli in Montelabbate in the province of Pesaro and Urbino, is operated by the company Music Tools & More srl. Albedo traces its design work to the early 1990s, when its research team built a mathematical model of transmission line enclosures; first products appeared in 1995 under the Apex Audio name, and the present company was set up in 2008. In the current range the ACCLARA sits between the AXCENTIA MKII and the ALECTA SGS, and it was exhibited during 2025 at the Florida International Audio Expo. Albedo describes its own aim as loudspeaker systems built for accuracy and precision in music reproduction.
Key specs that matter
Albedo fits five drivers per cabinet. Three 7 inch woofers use aluminium sandwich diaphragms, a 5 inch midrange comes from the Accuton Cell family, whose ceramic diaphragms Albedo selects for their high rigidity, and the 1 inch tweeter is offered with either a diamond or a ceramic dome. Crossover points are 350 Hz and 3.0 kHz with second-order acoustic slopes. Albedo rates the tower at 86 dB for 2.83 V at 1 m, with a nominal load of 4 ohm and a response of 35 Hz to 33,000 Hz. Each cabinet measures 27.7 cm wide, 53.5 cm deep and 139.8 cm tall, and weighs 140 kg. Finish choices are walnut, black oak, glossy lacquered walnut and glossy lacquered black.
Engineering and use context
The woofers drive a twin mirrored transmission line rather than a sealed box or a reflex port. Inside the line Albedo places Helmholtz resonators that filter its output acoustically, a patented arrangement the company calls the Helmholine System and uses across every model it builds. The enclosure walls are a multilayer wooden sandwich between 40 and 50 mm thick, chosen for high mass and resonance absorption. A steel cage reinforces the structure, with solid metal plates tied together by threaded bars. Each crossover is hand assembled with nothing but Mundorf parts - Silver Gold Supreme capacitors, Supreme resistors and Icore inductors - while the internal wiring is silver-plated cable from Van den Hul. All Albedo speakers are built in Italy.
Pairing
Given its demanding load and moderate sensitivity, the ACCLARA points toward transistor amplification able to hold steady into such a load and deliver plenty of current, in preference to a modest valve unit. The mass of each tower means installation is a two-person job.
Alternatives
The Albedo ALECTA SGS is a larger three-way tower with two 8 inch aluminium sandwich woofers, a diamond tweeter and an 8 ohm rating.
