Canadian brand Kanto Audio builds the Tuk Grand as an active stand-mount stereo set, and it went on sale in North America on 8 September 2026 alongside a second-generation version of the smaller Tuk. It takes the Tuk concept into a bigger hand-built cabinet with more internal volume and a larger woofer. Launch prices were USD 999.99, CAD 1,199.99, GBP 799.99 and EUR 899.99 per pair.

Key specs that matter

Kanto fits a 28 x 35 mm Air Motion Transformer tweeter above a 6-inch concave woofer made of Aircomb aluminium in both boxes. A class D amplifier with DSP delivers 160 W RMS, or 320 W peak, for the pair, and Kanto rates the frequency range at 40 Hz to 22 kHz. The master speaker accepts a pair of analogue RCA feeds, TOSLINK, USB-C audio and Bluetooth 5.4 with aptX Adaptive, AAC and SBC codecs, and both the optical and USB-C ports accept signals up to 24-bit 96 kHz. A subwoofer output and a 5 V 2 A charging port complete the panel. Every cabinet is 21.8 cm wide, 29.5 cm deep and 35 cm high, with the active side at 7.8 kg and the passive side at 7.3 kg. Kanto offers the cabinets in three matte colours - black, white and walnut.

Engineering and use context

The layout follows the usual powered pair format, with all electronics, inputs and the amplifier in one master speaker that drives the passive partner over ordinary speaker wire, and a 4.6 m run of that wire is supplied. Left and right channels can be swapped, so the active unit can sit on whichever side is closer to the source or mains outlet. The DSP tunes the drivers for this cabinet, and the sub output has an 80 Hz filter that can be switched to high-pass or low-pass, so the woofers stop handling deep bass once a subwoofer takes over. An infrared remote is included, together with a 1.8 m cable from RCA to 3.5 mm and silicone rubber feet for desks or shelves. A threaded quarter-inch 20 insert in the base allows fixing to a stand. Compared with the second-generation Tuk, the Grand gains a woofer about 19 mm larger, 30 W more RMS power and bass reach extended 10 Hz lower.

Pairing

The two RCA inputs accept vinyl playback once the signal has passed a phono preamp, plus a second analogue source, the optical port suits a TV, and the USB-C input connects a computer directly without a separate DAC. Phones and tablets stream over Bluetooth using aptX Adaptive where supported. Any powered subwoofer with a line input can be added through the filtered sub output.

Alternatives

The Kanto Tuk second generation is the smaller powered pair, using a 5.25-inch woofer and 130 W RMS for GBP 699.99.
