The Elite One is a two-way ported stand mount from the Italian brand Nime Audio Design and the model with which the brand began. Designer Nico Memoli created the first Elite One in 2010 and presented it in 2012 at the Rome Hi-Fidelity event, when Nime made its first official public appearance. The company describes it as a speaker for demanding listeners and for settings that call for a compact yet powerful loudspeaker, and it became the signature design of the range.

Key specs that matter

The two drivers come from Thiel and Partner under the Accuton name. A 25 mm ceramic dome tweeter works with a 173 mm ceramic bass midrange cone, and the reflex port exits at the rear. Published response runs from 42 Hz to 20,000 Hz, sensitivity is 88 dB, nominal impedance is 8 ohm and the minimum impedance is 7 ohm. Recommended amplifier power spans 15 W to 120 W. Supplied with its dedicated stand, the complete speaker measures 45 cm wide, 118 cm high and 80 cm deep, figures that describe the whole assembly rather than the cabinet alone.

Engineering and use context

What sets the Elite One apart is its enclosure, which is made from solid 10 mm steel. Nime assembles the whole unit by welding and then polishing the steel, a process that turns the cabinet into a single rigid structure. The brand also uses irregular, faceted shapes across its speakers, arguing that avoiding parallel walls and conventional boxes improves performance, cuts distortion and lowers internal diffraction. Like the later Mya, the Elite One makes the stand an inseparable element of the speaker, so the drivers sit at a height set by the designer. Accuton ceramic cones and domes are stiff and light, which is the reason Nime chose them for a two-way layout that must cover the whole band with only a single cone below the tweeter. Nime frames the brand as a union of Italian industrial design with serious hi-fi engineering, and the Elite One shows that approach most directly.

Pairing

With an impedance that stays high across the band, the Elite One presents an easy electrical load, so both valve and transistor amplifiers are suitable within the stated power window. A good quality integrated amplifier is enough in a room of about 20 m2, while larger spaces benefit from an amplifier near the upper end of the recommended range.

Alternatives

The Nime Audio Design Mya is another two-way stand mount of the brand, pairing an Accuton ceramic dome tweeter with a 170 mm Accuton ceramic cone and weighing 30 kg.
