Dynaudio builds the Confidence 20i as the only stand-mounted model in its Confidence i series, a passive two-way speaker that Dynaudio designed to fit comfortably in a smaller room. The Danish company presented the Confidence i line in October 2026 as the successor to the Confidence range of 2018. A pair costs EUR 15,000 with the matching stands included. In Europe the two wood finishes go on sale on 24 November 2026, other regions follow in January 2027, and the Space High Gloss option is scheduled worldwide for early 2027. The wood choices are Blonde Wood and a high-gloss Ruby Wood.

Key specs that matter

A 28 mm Esotar 3i soft-dome tweeter works with a single 18 cm NeoTec woofer, whose cone is MSP (magnesium silicate polymer), and the handover point is 3,000 Hz. Filter slopes are second order on one driver and first order on the other, working together with the directivity control. Quoted bandwidth runs from 45 Hz to 27 kHz. Sensitivity is 87 dB measured with 2.83 V at 1 m, the rated impedance is 4 ohm and the IEC long-term power handling figure is 250 W. With the stand fitted, the speaker takes up 370 mm in width, 1,130 mm in height and 458 mm in depth, and the combined weight is 27 kg per side.

Engineering and use context

The 20i gets its own newly designed DDC Lens around the tweeter instead of the lens used on the floorstanding models. DDC, or Dynaudio Directivity Control, is now in its third version and is meant to aim more output at the listener and less at the room. For the i generation the Esotar 3i tweeter was given an improved magnet system, and its motor is filled with a reformulated ferrofluid. The woofer pairs a stiff glass-fibre voice-coil former with a light aluminium voice coil to keep moving mass low and the assembly well damped. The reflex port vents downward and then sideways through the stand, so speaker and stand act as one acoustic system, and Dynaudio states that this makes the 20i tolerant of positions close to a wall. The crossover was pared back for the i series, with capacitors upgraded in cooperation with Duelund plus an in-house resistor, the patent-pending UltraPrecision Array type, specified to more than ten times tighter tolerance than catalogue resistors.

Pairing

Dynaudio treats the included stand as part of the bass port, and the speaker is designed to sit on that stand. As a 4 ohm speaker of moderate efficiency, it is a better partner for solid-state amplification with reserve current than for single-ended valve amps of a few watts.

Alternatives

Dynaudio also offers the Contour 20i, a bookshelf model from the Contour i series.
