The ATALANTE Grande Réserve is a stand-mounted three-way design from the French company Revival Audio, produced in a single run of 300 pairs worldwide. Each pair carries an individually numbered aluminium terminal plate, and the cabinets are finished in Smoked Oak veneer with what Revival calls Époque character. A dedicated oak stand is supplied.

Key specs that matter

The driver set starts with a 28 mm RASC Évo soft-dome tweeter with patented ARID technology, a neodymium magnet, a tetoron dome and a pure aluminium voice coil for the highest frequencies. A 75 mm RASC Évo soft-dome midrange with ARID+ technology and a double suspension handles the middle band, and a 300 mm BSC Grande Réserve woofer with a basalt sandwich cone looks after the bass. Crossover points sit at 400 Hz and 2 kHz. Revival quotes 26 Hz to 24 kHz at the -6 dB points and 89 dB at 2.83 V and 1 m. Nominal impedance is 4 ohm with a minimum of 3.2 ohm at 110 Hz. Power handling is 200 W, with 30 to 50 W as the minimum amplifier power. Without its stand each speaker measures 710 mm high, 420 mm wide and 355 mm deep and weighs 35.5 kg, rising to 1176 mm and 46.1 kg on the stand.

Engineering and use context

The woofer has 10 mm of linear excursion (12 mm peak), a 57 mm four-layer voice coil and an upgraded magnet system. The StrataBaffle front panel layers 25 mm of solid oak weighing 6 kg over a UDF core and structural backing, with chamfered edges. Two AeroVex wave-guided ports exit at the rear, and Revival claims they reduce port noise by more than 94 percent. The crossover uses an all-pass topology tuned by hand, with Mundorf Supreme parts, Supreme air coils, WBT binding posts and Van den Hul Skyline internal wiring. Spikes decouple the cabinet from the stand, which has die-cast reinforcement and adjustable isolation spikes of its own. The woofer is large for a stand-mount cabinet, which explains the deep bass figure and the weight. Revival suggests rooms of 30 to 65 m2, so a 20 m2 room is below the stated range.

Pairing

Because the impedance minimum falls in the bass region, the partner amp needs to keep delivering into low loads without strain, even though Revival sets the minimum power figure fairly low. The WBT posts accept spades or banana plugs.

Alternatives

The Revival Audio ATALANTE 5 is a more compact stand-mount from the standard ATALANTE range with its own dedicated ATALANTE 5 stand.
