The Quiet Sea 2, sold as the QuietSea II, is the second generation of the one-driver in-ear monitor from ROSESELSA, a brand whose range runs from wired IEMs and headphones to true wireless earbuds and desktop DACs. ROSESELSA says the model evolved from the first QuietSea and was tuned against Thiele-Small driver parameters. The regular price is USD 69.99, and buyers choose between Moon Blue and Platinum Silver shells and between a HIFI and an ESPORTS version.
Key specs that matter
A single 10 mm dynamic driver does all the work. ROSESELSA rates impedance at 18 ohm and sensitivity at 106 dB at 1 mW, with a frequency response of 20 Hz to 20 kHz and total harmonic distortion below 0.5 percent at 1 kHz. Each earpiece weighs 4.9 g. The supplied cable is 120 cm long and uses four strands of 5N oxygen-free copper, attaching to the shells through standard 0.78 mm 2-pin sockets. Its 4-pin modular plug system comes with both 3.5 mm single-ended and 4.4 mm balanced terminations in the box. The box holds four pairs of standard silicone tips and four pairs of the brand's SoundCocoon oval bore liquid silicone tips, each set in SS, S, M and L sizes.
Engineering and use context
The driver pairs a dual magnetic circuit with a dual-cavity motor. Its composite diaphragm combines a multi-layer PEEK substrate with a vacuum-coated carbon-copper alloy dome, held by a silver-coated aluminium surround, and the maker says the stiff surround prevents the split vibration that causes distortion. A large black voice coil of Japanese origin and a silver paste-coated circuit board complete the assembly. ROSESELSA groups these parts under its ORBITA acoustic architecture, which it describes as built for high conversion efficiency. The shells are five-axis CNC machined from aluminium alloy around a clear polycarbonate mid-section that works as a viewing window. The chamber is CNC machined from two materials to control airflow and keep drivers consistent between units. Shell curvature was derived from a large set of 3D ear canal scans to give a secure universal fit.
Pairing
The maker states that the ORBITA design lets the QuietSea II reach full level without complex matching or a high-end amplifier, which points to use straight from a phone adapter as well as from a dedicated player. Owners of a player or dongle fitted with a balanced jack can switch to the second plug, while those who prefer another lead can fit any aftermarket cable with the same 2-pin standard.
Alternatives
The ROSESELSA x AAV CJ20 is the brand's single-driver in-ear model that uses one planar magnetic driver in place of a dynamic unit.
