ROSESELSA built the EarFree i5 as an in-ear wireless set with hybrid active noise cancelling, LDAC support and an aluminium charging case. The company now lists it under the name EARFEEL i5, alongside the newer EARFEEL i7. ROSESELSA has priced it at USD 62.99 and more recently USD 59.99, and it comes in Champagne, Blue and Black finishes.

Key specs that matter

A 12 mm dynamic driver with a DLC-treated HR2 topology diaphragm is fitted on each side. Impedance is 32 ohm, output power 15 mW and distortion 0.02 percent at 1 kHz, with a quoted frequency response of 14 Hz to 23.6 kHz. Over Bluetooth 5.3 the set accepts the LDAC, AAC, mSBC and SBC codecs within a communication range of 10 m. Calls pass through a quad-microphone array of GoerTek silicon crystal capsules, with a DNN neural network algorithm filtering background noise from the voice. A game mode lowers latency to 54 ms for video and gaming. The earpieces carry an IPX5 rating against sweat and rain, so they suit workouts and outdoor use. The charging case is made of aerospace-grade aluminium alloy, cut by four-axis CNC machining rather than moulded in plastic like the polycarbonate case of the Ceramics X.

Pairing

The i5 links to phones, tablets and computers directly, and multi-point connection holds links to two devices simultaneously, useful when switching between a laptop and a phone. Sources with LDAC can use the higher bit rate the earphones accept, while AAC and SBC cover other devices. The ROSELINK app provides customisable touch controls and three equaliser presets called HIFI, POP and ROCK. No separate DAC, amplifier or cable is needed.
