The TDAI-1120 is a compact streaming integrated amplifier from Lyngdorf Audio of Denmark that combines digital conversion, a moving magnet phono input and network playback in one matte black case. It was priced at USD 2,199, and an optional remote handset cost USD 99. The chassis is 11.8 inches wide, 4 inches high and 10.3 inches deep, weighing 7.3 pounds.

Key specs that matter

Output is 60 W per channel into 8 ohm and 120 W per channel into 4 ohm, and peak output current reaches 30 A. Frequency response is 20 Hz to 20 kHz within 0.5 dB, and total harmonic distortion stays at 0.05 percent at most across that band, with THD+N at 1 W of 0.04 percent into both 8 and 4 ohm. Digital inputs comprise two coaxial connections up to 24 bit and 192 kHz, two optical connections up to 24 bit and 96 kHz and one HDMI eARC port up to 24 bit and 192 kHz. On the analogue side there is one line input on RCA with a maximum level of 4.0 V equal to 0 dBFS and one phono input loaded at 47 kohm and 100 pF. Standby consumption is below 0.5 W.

Engineering and use context

Amplification uses Lyngdorf's proprietary Equibit class D technology. Network audio arrives through 802.11n Wi-Fi or an Ethernet jack, with Roon Ready, Chromecast built-in, AirPlay 2, Spotify Connect, DLNA and vTuner internet radio supported, and Bluetooth is also on board. Music stored on a USB drive plays through a USB-A socket, although a computer cannot be connected over USB. The HDMI eARC link lets a TV feed the amplifier directly. Bass management with crossover controls, voicing presets and trigger input and output are included, and the unit is operated through the My Lyngdorf app on iOS or Android or through a web interface. Power enters through a three-pin IEC inlet. A stereo RCA line output with 75 ohm impedance and up to 4 V RMS feeds an external amplifier or active speakers. The optional remote works over infrared, and optional kits fit the unit into a 2U or 7U rack. A calibration microphone, stand and cable come in the box.

Pairing

The 30 A current capability and 120 W into 4 ohm let the TDAI-1120 drive compact 4 ohm speakers such as Lyngdorf's own MH series, while the bass management helps when a subwoofer joins the system. An MM cartridge turntable connects without any extra phono preamplifier.

Alternatives

The Lyngdorf TDAI-2210 is a larger streaming integrated amplifier from the same brand with 105 W per channel into 8 ohm and a colour touchscreen.
