Zeiler Audio is a Swiss maker of high-efficiency horn-coaxial loudspeakers and tube electronics, founded in 2018 by engineer Ralf Zeiler and based in Kilchberg on Lake Zurich. It is a compact operation built around a single complete system - preamplifier, power amplifier, loudspeakers, step-up transformers and cables - designed by one person who spent more than four decades building amplifiers and speakers as a hobby before turning it into a business.
Range & what it's known for
The loudspeaker side has two models. The SP-01 is presented as a modern homage to the Tannoy and Altec studio monitors of the 1960s and 70s, while the SP-02 puts the same professional 15-inch neodymium coaxial driver into a smaller bass-reflex cabinet with a downward-firing port. Both reach 97 dB per watt, never dip below 8 ohms and use a compression driver on an 80 x 60 degree constant-directivity waveguide. Electronics are the PR-01 preamplifier and the PA-01, a 10-watt power amplifier running KT150 tubes in triode mode, plus MC Series step-up transformers built with Lundahl parts, IC Series interconnects and the SC-01 speaker cable.
Who owns it and where it's made
Zeiler Audio GmbH belongs to Ralf Zeiler himself, who trained as an engineer and worked in IT. Products carry a Made in Switzerland label. Amplifier enclosures are machined from solid aluminium blocks, bead-blasted and anodised, electronic parts are hand-selected, channel-matched and hand-soldered with cryogenically treated wire, and electro-mechanical components are made to Zeiler's specifications by suppliers in Europe, Asia and the US. The visual design comes from FOND Design in Zurich.
