Wilson Audio Specialties is an American high-end loudspeaker company founded in 1974 in Novato, California, by David A. Wilson and Sheryl Lee Wilson. It is now based in Provo, Utah, employs around 60 people and is known for some of the most expensive loudspeakers sold anywhere. Many model names are acronyms, such as WATT for Wilson Audio Tiny Tot and WAMM for Wilson Audio Modular Monitor.

Range & what it's known for

The floorstanding range runs from the Sabrina V and the WATT/Puppy through the Sasha V, Alexia V and Alexx V to the Chronosonic XVX and the Autobiography. Compact and surface-mount models include the TuneTot and the Alida CSC, and home theatre is covered by the WASAE Center and Mezzo CSC centre speakers. The LoKe, Submerge and Subsonic subwoofers come with the ActivXO crossover, and the Pedestal and Acoustic Diode handle isolation. Enclosures are built from non-wood materials such as phenolic resin composites and epoxy laminates and finished with a high-gloss automotive paint process in many colours.

Who owns it and where it's made

Wilson Audio is privately held. Daryl C. Wilson, son of the founder, is chief executive, with Korbin Vaughn as chief operating officer. The engineering team, cabinet shop and assembly line share one Provo site on Mountain Vista Lane. The firm also issued its own Wilson Audiophile Recordings label and runs a Certified Authentic programme for parts and accessories.

The lineup in this catalog

Loudspeakers across several categories. Prices begin at roughly USD 15,000 for the Sabrina and climb to well over USD 800,000 for the WAMM Master Chronosonic system.

Who it's for

Wilson Audio suits buyers with large budgets and rooms who want a loudspeaker built and finished in the United States by a family-run firm. The Sabrina V or TuneTot is the usual entry, the Sasha V and Alexia V form the middle steps, and the Alexx V, Chronosonic XVX and WAMM sit at the top. Owners can add Wilson subwoofers and the ActivXO later to extend an existing system.
