WAVAC Audio Lab builds valve amplification in Yonezawa, Yamagata Prefecture, operating since 1996. Its best-known products are triode monoblocks rated at 150 W, a high figure for that topology. The founder started the company after more than 20 years of sound engineering work, choosing analogue tube circuits as its focus.
Range & what it's known for
Single-ended directly heated triode power amplifiers are the core of the catalogue. The top models are the SH-833, HE-833MkII and HE-833v2 monoblocks at 150 W each. The SH-833 was created as the company's 10th anniversary model. Below them sit the HE-805v2 stereo amplifier at 50 W, the MD-805MK-II and MD-805m monoblocks at 60 W and 50 W, and the EC-838 stereo amplifier at 35 W. The EC-300B and MD-300B stereo amplifiers and the MD-300Bm monoblock, deliver 10 W. The range also includes control amplifiers, phono equalizer amplifiers, attenuators and AC conditioners.
Who owns it and where it's made
WAVAC Audio Lab is a private Japanese company. Its tube circuits were developed with the late Mr. Shishido, whose designs became central to the product line. Amplifiers are built at the company's base in Yonezawa.
