Trafomatic Audio is a Serbian tube amplifier workshop started by Saša Čokić, a self-taught designer. The name comes from the transformer, and the company winds its own output, interstage and power transformers and chokes, a part it treats as the core of each design. It began as a one-man workshop and now exports to Europe, Asia and North America.
Range & what it's known for
The range covers power amplifiers, integrated amplifiers, line and phono preamplifiers and headphone amplifiers. Single-ended designs with direct-heated triodes are a recurring theme. The Glenn is a 300B mono block of 8 W, the Elysian a GM70 single-ended mono amplifier of 25 W in class A, and the Kaivalya, part of the top White Range, a push-pull EL84 mono block giving 25 W. Among integrated models the EOS+ uses KT150 tubes for 50 W per channel, while the Rhapsody runs four 300B tubes in parallel single-ended for 2 x 20 W in a Panzerholz chassis. Preamps include the Lara and Evolution Line One, and Head 2 and Primavera serve headphone users.
Who owns it and where it's made
Trafomatic remains privately held, and Čokić personally designs the circuits and transformers. Amplifiers are built by hand in Serbia, and keeping transformer production inside the company lets it match each transformer to its circuit.
The lineup in this catalog
Amplifiers. Trafomatic models here cost about EUR 3,000 at the low end and over EUR 20,000 at the top.
Who it's for
Trafomatic suits tube listeners, especially those using efficient speakers that work with low-power single-ended amplifiers. Integrated models such as the EOS+ give more power for ordinary speakers, while the 300B and GM70 mono blocks and the Rhapsody are the upper steps for owners committed to triodes.
