Takumi Recordplayer

Website:https://playtakumi.com/

Takumi is a Dutch turntable brand created by electrical engineer Rik Stoet, who founded Rik Stoet Audio in 1993. Its record players are designed and built in the Netherlands and sold as complete decks with tonearm fitted.

Range & what it's known for

The current range has three belt-drive models. The cheapest deck is the TT level 1.1 at EUR 1,295, with an electronically controlled AC motor, a solid acrylic platter meant to be used without a mat, a ceramic spindle bearing in a brass sleeve with a hardened steel ball, and a reversible spindle that leaves no contact with the record during play. The TT level 2.1DC at EUR 1,795 includes the SpeedPod accessory, and the TT level 3.1 costs EUR 2,495. The design goal throughout is to control or dissipate vibration before it reaches the cartridge.

Who owns it and where it's made

Takumi is the turntable line of Rik Stoet, who earlier designed valve amplifiers and CD players under the Heart and StoetKit names. A first Takumi prototype built with third-party parts sold out a run of 100 units in the Netherlands, and the present generation was developed from it. Production takes place in the Netherlands.

Turntables are covered, starting with the TT level 1.1 belt-drive deck.

Who it's for

Takumi builds for a buyer who wants a compact acrylic deck with a fitted arm, made by a small specialist workshop. The level 1.1 is the way in, and the level 2.1DC and 3.1 are the upgrade steps within the same family.
