Ø Audio, written O Audio in this catalog, is a Norwegian high-end loudspeaker maker based in Drammen. It builds large floorstanding speakers in Norway, with a design language drawn from Scandinavian landscapes, and is expanding in the US, Canada and the UK.
Range & what it's known for
The range currently covers four loudspeakers. Frigg 02 is the compact model, Icon 12 is a horn-loaded floorstander that evolved from the earlier Icon, Verdande is a large-scale design, and Ymir is the new flagship. Ymir is a clean-sheet design with a 10 mm stainless steel front baffle, a newly developed 12-inch carbon composite woofer and a 76 mm carbon compression driver on the Quad Vertex Soundfield waveguide, using an assisted first-order crossover. It weighs 120 kg and is rated at 93.5 dB sensitivity and 8 ohms.
Who owns it and where it's made
Ø Audio operates from Nedre Storgate in Drammen, and its speakers are manufactured in Norway. No parent company is named, and The Audio Agent was recently appointed as exclusive UK distributor.
The lineup in this catalog
Floorstanding loudspeakers such as the Icon 12 and Ymir, with model coverage still being added.
Who it's for
Ø Audio is meant for spacious listening rooms whose owners prefer a sensitive, horn-loaded floorstander built in Scandinavia. Frigg 02 is the way into the brand, Icon 12 and Verdande move up in size, and Ymir is the final step.
