Majority is a British home audio brand founded in Cambridge, England, in 2012 by Eddie Latham and PJ Scott. It began as Velocity Outlet, a side business selling products on eBay, and launched its first own product, the Verb wireless speaker, in 2014. Since then it has grown into a catalogue of affordable audio, from DAB radios to soundbars, turntables and powered speakers.

Range & what it's known for

The range covers digital radios named after villages around Cambridge, such as Histon, Little Shelford, Eversden and Petersfield, the Oakington all-in-one with radio, CD and Bluetooth, budget turntables, and the Bard and Quadriga connected music systems launched in 2023. The Quadriga combines CD, DAB+, FM, internet radio, Bluetooth and Spotify Connect. Powered bookshelf speakers include the D100X, rated at 100W with Bluetooth 5.3, HDMI ARC, optical, USB, RCA and a headphone jack.

Who owns it and where it's made

The brand is owned by Velocity Outlet Limited, the company its founders set up in Cambridge, where it is still headquartered. A sister brand, Oakcastle, offers cheaper products. Majority expanded into continental Europe in 2018 and the United States in 2020.

The lineup in this catalog

Powered speakers, turntables and an all-in-one music system, led by the D100X and the Quadriga.

Who it's for

Majority suits first-time buyers who want simple, self-contained audio at modest cost, such as a DAB radio, a plug-in turntable or powered speakers for a television. The D100X and the Quadriga suit households wanting one box or one pair of speakers to cover several sources.
