The Fosi Audio DS3 is based on the ESS9039Q2M DAC chip from ESS Technology, which supports signal processing with parameters up to 32 bit / 768 kHz and DSD up to DSD512. The digital interface is implemented on the basis of an XMOS processor, which ensures high response speed and stable USB operation - an important factor for both smooth gaming and high—resolution music playback.

The device offers high and low frequency control from the front panel, connectivity options include a Bluetooth 6.0 adapter on a Qualcomm QCC3095 chip compatible with LDAC and aptX Lossless, two RCA line inputs, screw terminals for acoustic wires, a 12V trigger input, and a subwoofer output with a switchable cutoff frequency. The Fosi Audio BT20A MAX comes with an infrared remote control allowing access to all settings.

At the heart of the Fosi Audio Merak is a CS43131 DAC and a TPA6120 headphone amplifier. The claimed performance specifications are quite impressive: a signal-to-noise ratio of up to 124 dB and a total harmonic distortion of 0.0009% (THD+N). In addition to CDs, it also supports PCM playback up to 16-bit/96 kHz.
