Devialet is a French audio company founded in Paris in 2007 by Pierre-Emmanuel Calmel, Quentin Sannie and Emmanuel Nardin. It began with high-end amplifiers and grew into a wider consumer brand with wireless speakers, a soundbar, a portable speaker and earbuds, all built around technology developed by its own engineers in France.

Range & what it's known for

The engineering base is Analog Digital Hybrid, or ADH, invented by Calmel in 2004, which pairs a Class A analogue stage with a Class D stage in the same amplifier. It first appeared in the integrated amplifiers that became the Expert Pro series, launched in 2016 as compact super-integrated units. The Phantom wireless speakers, in the Phantom I and Phantom Reactor families, bring the same idea into a sealed sphere. The current range also covers the Dione soundbar, the Mania portable speaker and the Gemini II earbuds, plus special editions such as the Roland Garros version of the Phantom.

Who owns it and where it's made

Devialet is privately held and headquartered in Paris, with Jacques Demont as chief executive. By 2016 it had raised EUR 100 million from investors including Foxconn, Roc Nation and Playground Global. Drivers are produced at the company's own plant in Le Chatelet-en-Brie near Paris, while Phantom assembly has been carried out at a Bosch factory in Normandy. Devialet also licenses its know-how to partners such as Renault for car audio and Sky for the Sky Soundbox.

The lineup in this catalog

The brand is listed here with amplifiers and wireless speakers, several models across both. A smaller Phantom costs about EUR 1,000, while a complete Expert Pro amplifier system goes well above EUR 20,000.

Who it's for

Devialet is for a living room that should hold a compact system with few boxes and an unusual visual design. A typical entry is a Mania or a single Phantom used with a TV or phone, then a stereo pair of Phantoms or a Dione soundbar. Listeners with passive loudspeakers look instead at the Expert Pro amplifiers, which combine streaming, conversion and amplification in one slim chassis.
