The DMP-A8 Master Gen 2 is the version of the second-generation DMP-A8 that Eversolo fits with a top-loading CD mechanism and an oven-controlled master clock. Streaming, digital-to-analogue conversion, an analogue preamplifier, CD playback and CD ripping share one aluminium alloy chassis in black. UK sales started in August 2026 at GBP 2,489, and Eversolo lists it at USD 2,580, EUR 2,580 and AUD 4,299, while the Japanese price announced in September 2026 is JPY 495,000.
Key specs that matter
The D/A section pairs an AKM AK4191EQ digital processor with an AK4499EX DAC and handles PCM up to 32-bit/768 kHz plus native DSD512. The XLR outputs reach 4.2 V and the RCA outputs 2.1 V, and both stay within 0.25 dB from 20 Hz to 20 kHz. Distortion plus noise is as low as 0.000075% from the balanced side and 0.000086% from the single-ended side. The OCXO works with a PLL, and Eversolo specifies jitter under 50 fs. The case measures 388 x 265 x 98.5 mm and weighs 6 kg, and rated consumption is 30 W.
Engineering and use context
A custom CD drive is fitted, and discs load from the top of the case. Playback uses error correction, album details are fetched and shown on the 8.6-inch touchscreen, and discs can be ripped losslessly to WAV or FLAC with detection of duplicates. Rips can land on an optional M.2 NVMe SSD of up to 8 TB, which supplements 64 GB of eMMC and 8 GB of DDR5 memory serving a 64-bit eight-core processor. A 10 MHz external clock input lets the unit share a reference clock with other equipment. Volume control is a fully balanced R-2R resistor ladder in the analogue domain, and low-noise linear and digital power sections are kept separate. Network links cover Gigabit Ethernet, a gigabit SFP fibre interface (module not included) and dual-band Wi-Fi 6, with SMB, NFS and WebDAV file sharing, two USB-A 3.0 ports, Roon Ready status, and Qobuz, TIDAL and Spotify each stream through their Connect feature. Control comes from the front screen, the supplied remote and Eversolo apps on Android phones, iPhone, iPad and TV devices.
Pairing
With balanced and unbalanced line inputs plus optical, coaxial, USB-B and HDMI ARC, the Master can take a TV, a turntable preamp or another digital source and pass a volume-controlled signal to a power amp or active monitors with no extra preamp. A subwoofer output with an adjustable 40-500 Hz crossover adds a powered sub. When a separate converter is preferred, the USB audio and I2S over HDMI outputs carry the full resolution range, and AES/EBU, coaxial and optical outputs go up to 24-bit/192 kHz and DoP64.
Alternatives
The Eversolo Play CD Edition is a smaller streamer that also plays discs through a slot-loading CD drive and has its own Class D power amplifier.
