The Eversolo DMP-A6 Master Edition Gen 2 is a streamer, DAC and preamplifier that combines the second-generation DMP-A6 platform with the upgraded converter stage of the Master Edition. Its CNC-machined aluminium case measures 270 mm wide, 187 mm deep and 90 mm high, with a 6 inch touchscreen and an RGB-lit volume knob on the front. The German price was EUR 1,299, with deliveries planned from January 2025, and Eversolo makes it in two finishes, black and silver.
Key specs that matter
Two ESS ES9038Q2M chips decode one channel each in a fully balanced layout, timed by a pair of Accusilicon femtosecond oscillators, and an array of Texas Instruments OPA1612 op-amps handles the analogue stage. Balanced XLR outputs reach 5.2 V, and both SNR and dynamic range exceed 128 dB there, with THD+N under 0.00009 percent and a response flat within 0.15 dB from 20 Hz to 20 kHz. The RCA output gives 2.6 V, SNR above 124 dB and THD+N below 0.00011 percent, and crosstalk on both outputs is better than -124 dB. Over USB the player accepts native DSD512 and PCM up to 32-bit/768 kHz with MQA.
Engineering and use context
For Gen 2, Eversolo lists a new linear audio supply with noise below 40 microvolts, a second HDMI port with ARC, a 12 V trigger output and Wake on LAN. The femtosecond clocks, the OPA1612 array and the illuminated knob separate this version from the standard DMP-A6 Gen 2. A third-generation XMOS XU316 runs the USB link, and the system side uses a quad-core ARM Cortex-A55 with 4 GB of DDR4 RAM and 32 GB of eMMC. An internal M.2 NVMe 3.0 2280 slot accepts an SSD of up to 4 TB, and two USB 3.0 ports take external drives. Roon Ready, TIDAL Connect and DLNA are built in, Plex, Emby, NFS, SMB and WebDAV sources can be browsed, and apps for Qobuz, Apple Music, Deezer and other services run on the unit. Bluetooth 5.0 comes from a Qualcomm QCC5125 module, and the rated draw is 13 W.
Pairing
A computer connects over USB-B and a television over HDMI ARC, and optical and coaxial inputs serve CD transports and other digital sources, with HDMI ARC, optical and coaxial all accepting up to 24-bit/192 kHz. Either analogue output, XLR or RCA, can run into an integrated amp, a two-channel power amp or powered monitors. One HDMI port sends multichannel PCM up to 5.1 and native DSD64 to an AV receiver or processor, while USB, optical and coaxial outputs serve an outboard DAC. Network links are wired Gigabit Ethernet or Wi-Fi on the 2.4 and 5 GHz bands.
Alternatives
The Eversolo DMP-A8 Gen 2 is the brand's streamer with an AKM AK4191EQ and AK4499EX converter pair and an 8.6 inch touchscreen.
