The Synergy Black Label Sub-120 is a powered subwoofer from Klipsch with a 12-inch front-firing woofer and an all-digital amplifier. Within the Synergy Black Label subwoofer range it sits above the Sub-100, offering more output and deeper low-frequency extension, and it shares the range's black-and-copper styling and black ash vinyl finish.

Key specs that matter

The woofer is driven by 200W of continuous and 400W of dynamic power. Its cone is made from IMG, short for Injection Molded Graphite, and finished in the spun-copper look that runs through the Synergy Black Label series. An adjustable low-pass crossover and a volume control sit on the amplifier panel, for blending the Sub-120 with the main speakers in a given room. The cabinet measures 16 x 14 x 19.25 inches.

Engineering and use context

The fully digital amplifier was chosen for high efficiency and accurate reproduction of the source signal. Linear Travel Suspension is used on the driver to keep distortion low when the cone moves at high excursion. Because the woofer fires forward, the cabinet can be placed in a corner to maximise bass output without making the installation awkward in a living space. A removable grille with sturdy, flexible mounting covers the driver. Klipsch designed setup to be quick and straightforward, which makes the Sub-120 an approachable choice for a buyer building a first home theatre or adding bass to a two-channel system.

Pairing

Connection is through standard line-level and LFE RCA inputs, so the Sub-120 works with any receiver, preamp or integrated model that has a subwoofer out. Where a compatible wireless option is fitted, it removes the need for a long cable run to a corner position. Visually the Sub-120 matches other Synergy Black Label models in the same black-and-copper finish.

Alternatives

A smaller choice in the same family is the Sub-100, with a 10-inch driver and 150W continuous or 300W dynamic power for rooms that need less output.
