The Stax SRM-400S looks like the SRM-500T (even the dimensions are the same!), but unlike the older model, it uses a classic transistor path (which, in fact, means the letter S, not T, which is used for the lamp). The amplifier has a balanced output (and previously it appeared only in the "X" version from 353, although it was very much requested in this class of equipment), as well as separate transformers for low-current and high-current circuits and a new rigid chassis.
