The Hana Umami Black Low Output cartridge operates in a frequency range of 15 to 50,000 Hz and has a low output voltage of 0.3 mV. This brainchild of the company's chief designer, Masao Okada-san, features a diamond cantilever and a new proprietary OKD moving coil generator (combining a pole piece and rear yoke with a U-shaped front yoke). The use of a very powerful NdFeB (neodymium-iron-boron) magnet system and a square-section carbon permalloy hybrid armature guarantee stunningly detailed bass and a dynamic sound.

The AirTight Opus-1 anniversary vinyl cartridge is designed using the company's signature "high output energy at low impedance" design. It also uses an SH-μX core / Neodymium #50 magnet system, which significantly reduces the number of coil turns, minimizing internal system losses. The cartridge's internal impedance, meanwhile, remains at 1.4 ohms! The Semi-line contact stylus mounted on a boron cantilever, the Diamond-Like Carbon A7075 DLC base, and the rhodium-plated body - everything is perfect. The sound matches - with true luster and brilliance.

The HiFiction X-Quisite ST cartridge is housed in a composite housing made of titanium, aluminum, and wood and uses a patented monoblock ceramic cantilever bonded to the coil body (wound with 4N pure silver). Micha Huber, the cartridge's designer, created a system virtually devoid of traditional resonance, resulting in an open and exceptionally airy sound.

The ultimate Lyra Atlas Lambda SL cartridge uses a sophisticated diamond-coated boron cantilever and offers a bandwidth of 10 to 50,000 Hz with an impressive channel separation of 35 dB. The asymmetrical design suppresses standing waves within the cartridge, and the offset magnetic system, which is non-parallel to the cantilever, further diverts vibrations from the cantilever itself. The cantilever is mounted within the cartridge body, ensuring absolute rigidity. The titanium body is the icing on the cake. The Lyra Atlas Lambda SL sounds incomparable, with exceptionally accurate timbre and exemplary micro- and macrodynamics.

For the TESSELLATE Ti-D series of cartridges, Wilson Benesch used the latest selective laser sintering (SLS) technology to create the cartridge body. This additive manufacturing (AM) technique uses high-power lasers to sinter titanium alloy powder, forming a complex three-dimensional component layer by layer. The result is an optimized cartridge body with a mosaic, semi-open architecture. Wilson Benesch achieved unprecedented levels of rigidity and low weight in the TESSELLATE Ti-D cartridges. The TESSELLATE Ti is the world's first cartridge with a hybrid cantilever design. For the first time, the TESSELLATE Ti-D cartridge uses diamond with a unidirectional (UD) carbon fiber tube. This innovative technology combines the advantages of modern cantilever systems with the damping benefits of UD carbon fiber, resulting in improved groove tracking by reducing cantilever resonance. The Wilson Benesch TESSELLATE Ti-D uses a Pure Iron Square Coil and features a frequency response of 20 to 32,000 Hz with 32 dB of channel separation.

Clearaudio's reference cartridge is the Goldfinger Statement V2. It features a 14-karat gold body (its twelve teeth serve as resonance guides), a Micro HD diamond stylus, a boron cantilever, and symmetrical voice coils wound with 24-karat gold wire. Few other cartridges today offer comparable performance - a bandwidth of up to 100,000 Hz and channel separation of 40 dB. Furthermore, the Clearaudio Goldfinger Statement V2 is the world's first cartridge with a shield to protect against radio frequency interference. The sound is fluid, three-dimensional, and a genuine flurry of detail; it seems to penetrate the very soul of the music.

This reference optical cartridge, using photoelectric conversion, features a square-profile diamond cantilever with a Micro Ridge stylus and a super-duralumin body. The use of a single, 0.22 mm thick diamond plate from the cantilever to the tip, without joints, has allowed for unprecedented rigidity. A proprietary DS Audio preamplifier is also required for operation, but the experience is worth it: once you hear the photoelectric system in action, there's no turning back.

The Gryphon Black Diamond DLC cartridge operates from 20 to 5000 Hz with 26 dB of channel separation and uses a diamond cantilever with a Replicant 100 stylus. Housed in a titanium housing, the cartridge leverages the design of the Ortofon MC Diamond cartridge. However, compared to the base Ortofon model, Gryphon's Black Diamond DLC utilizes a DLC-TR SLM coating, developed by Gryphon in collaboration with the Danish Institute of Technology. DLC-TR SLM delivers significant sonic benefits: the sound transmission and resonance velocity of titanium is doubled from 9,000 meters per second to 18,000 meters per second. The DLC coil wire has been upgraded from copper to gold-plated copper for improved conductivity and durability. This wire is wound in a new 6-layer coil configuration with 2 x 84 turns per channel to further improve signal quality. The upgraded front and rear rubber bearings are now made from a specially developed rubber compound, providing previously unattainable levels of strength, performance, and durability.

Although darTZeel recently announced million-dollar cartridges, it appears the business hasn't moved beyond the one-off models. Nevertheless, it is the Swiss company that currently produces the most expensive mass-produced cartridge – the darTZeel NDB-01D. The cartridge uses a diamond cantilever with a square shank and a hand-polished (!) diamond stylus with a Nude sharpening. All other components are ultra-high-end - for example, the coils are hand-wound with silver-plated, ultra-pure copper wire, and the coil mandrels are acid-etched from titanium. The performance characteristics are impressive - frequency response from 10 to 110,000 Hz, channel separation of 33 dB.
