The tt9 comes from Soulines, the Serbian turntable company founded by Igor Gligorov, a mechanical engineer, musician and sound engineer. Introduced in 2024, it set the design direction that the brand later carried into the larger tt23. The UK price is GBP 3,990 as a package with the KiVi M3 tonearm, a dust cover and a record clamp, while the arm on its own is listed at GBP 2,090.

Key specs that matter

Drive comes from an electronically controlled DC motor running at 33.33 and 45 rpm, with a fine speed adjustment. A cast acrylic platter, 30 mm thick, weighs 2.5 kg and is cut back in the centre to clear the label. The inverted main bearing is machined from stainless steel, brass and Delrin. Overall dimensions are 425 x 355 x 145 mm, and net weight is 10 kg.

Engineering and use context

The plinth is multi-layered, built from cast acrylic and POM (Delrin), and sits on an aluminium sub-plinth coupled at three points. A solid aluminium armboard carries the tonearm. Soulines used calculations based on the Fibonacci Sequence and the Golden Ratio to set dimensions and proportions for resonance damping, with the goal of a light yet rigid chassis. Parts are machined individually rather than in batches. The KiVi M3 is a unipivot arm with a captive bearing, which the maker says joins low friction with added rigidity, and its bearing yoke and arm tube are formed as one piece. An adjustable counterweight system lets the arm balance many different cartridges. The three-point coupling is fixed rather than sprung, so the deck relies on its materials and mass distribution rather than a floating suspension to control vibration. This makes a rigid, level support surface important, since there is no spring system to absorb shocks from a wobbly shelf.

Pairing

With the arm, clamp and cover included, the tt9 needs only a cartridge and a phono stage to form a complete front end. Owners who already have a preferred cartridge can move it over, provided its mass and compliance suit the unipivot arm, and the phono stage should be matched to the output level of whichever cartridge is fitted. A dedicated wall shelf or a rigid rack gives the fixed three-point coupling the stable, level base it needs, and the supplied dust cover keeps the platter and arm clean between sessions.

Alternatives

Soulines also makes the tt23, a heavier belt-driven turntable with a 40 mm cast acrylic platter weighing 3.5 kg and the KiVi M3 tonearm fitted as standard.
