The Folio is an all-in-one belt-drive record player from the British brand Majority, launched in the UK alongside the Stylo at a price of GBP 169. Unlike its sibling, which is meant to feed external powered speakers, the Folio carries its own integrated stereo speakers, so it can play records on its own without any extra components. The pair arrived in the UK in time for Record Store Day 2025, and US pricing had not been announced at launch. Colour options include Oxblood, Blue Steel, Sol Yellow, Blackout and British Racing Green, and the Folio adds a Plywood version that the Stylo does not offer.
Key specs that matter
The deck spins records at 33 1/3 and 45 rpm and accepts 7, 8, 10 and 12 inch discs. An Audio-Technica AT3600L moving magnet cartridge comes fitted at the factory, and its stylus can be replaced when worn. The platter is aluminium and sits on a belt drive. The tonearm has an S-shaped profile and is equipped with an adjustable counterweight, an anti-skate control and a cueing lever, and a pitch adjustment lets the owner alter playback speed. An auto-stop feature is included to protect both the records and the stylus once playback of a side ends. The unit measures 41.2 x 32.3 x 14.2 cm, weighs 3.7 kg, and runs from a 100-240 V, 50/60 Hz supply through an external power adaptor.
Engineering and use context
Connectivity goes well beyond a basic turntable. Bluetooth 5.3 works in both directions, so the Folio can stream a record to wireless headphones or speakers and can also receive audio from a phone and play it through the built-in drivers. A USB port handles playback of files and recording, which lets owners digitise records without a separate computer interface. There is an RCA output for a hi-fi system, an AUX input for another analogue source and a 3.5 mm headphone jack for private listening. The box includes a 45 rpm adaptor, a rubber mat, the power adaptor and a user manual.
Pairing
Out of the box the Folio needs nothing more than a mains socket, because the integrated speakers take care of playback. Owners who later want bigger speakers can connect the RCA output to a stereo amplifier or to a pair of active speakers, while Bluetooth headphones or a wireless speaker can take the signal without cables.
Alternatives
The Majority Stylo is the same brand's belt-drive turntable without integrated speakers, fitted with a carbon fibre arm and an internal phono stage feeding RCA outputs for a separate system.
