The DNA I is a network-capable stereo integrated amplifier from Audionet that combines streaming, digital inputs and analogue amplification in one compact case. Its brushed 10 mm aluminium fascia comes anodised in black or in silver, the display glows red or blue, and the case adds a 4 mm aluminium cover, 8 mm aluminium sides and a 2 mm steel chassis.

Key specs that matter

Two channels of amplification are built in. Rated power is 2 x 120 W into 8 ohm and 2 x 230 W into 4 ohm, with a typical damping factor of 1,000 at 100 Hz. THD+N sits below -93 dB between 20 Hz and 20 kHz. Via the analogue inputs the response reaches 1 Hz to 500,000 Hz at -3 dB and noise sits more than 100 dB below signal at 1 kHz, while through the digital inputs it spans 1 Hz to 96,000 Hz depending on sample rate, accepting 32 kHz to 192 kHz. The unit measures 430 x 110 x 360 mm and weighs 16 kg. Consumption is 1 W in standby, 12 W in quick start mode and up to 750 W.

Engineering and use context

A 700 VA toroidal transformer feeds over 96,000 uF of low-ESR smoothing capacitance, and digital and analogue sections have separate supplies. Capacitors in the audio path use silk or hemp dielectrics. The output stage uses Audionet ULA Ultra Linear Amplifier technology and is fully DC coupled without capacitors in the signal path. Audionet Intelligent Sampling Technology upsamples asynchronously to 24 bit at its highest accepted sample rate, backed by a precise clock generator against jitter. Streaming covers WAV, FLAC and AIFF in high resolution, ALAC up to 96 kHz, plus AAC, WMA and OGG Vorbis, with gapless playback. TIDAL, Qobuz, Deezer, internet radio and podcasts are built in, alongside UPnP servers and USB sticks. Control comes through Android and iOS apps or the Remote Control Point software on PC and Mac, and mains phase is detected automatically.

Pairing

Analogue sources use three gold-plated RCA pairs, while a 75 ohm coaxial S/PDIF socket, a TosLink port, USB Audio type B and USB type A serve digital sources, with Ethernet or WLAN for the network. There is an RCA pre-out, a switchable 6.3 mm headphone socket, two pairs of Furutech rhodium speaker terminals, a turntable earth screw and an optional phono stage. A bypass mode serves home cinema use, and an optical Audionet Link output wakes other Audionet components.
