Métronome named the DSAS after its role as the Digital Sharing Audio Server, and it completes a four-unit family that also contains a CD transport, a compact converter and a streaming player. Métronome developed it together with Audirvāna, whose software runs natively on the machine, so the box works both as a local library store and as a streaming source. Its public debut came at the 2025 Munich High End exhibition, with a European price of EUR 5,990 announced in September of that year.
Key specs that matter
A 2 TB SSD is installed as standard, and a second internal slot allows the capacity to grow to 4 TB. External drives and USB keys connect through two USB 3.0 ports, one USB-A and one USB-C, and music on a NAS can also be read over the network. Connection to the home network is either wired Gigabit Ethernet or wireless on the 2.4 and 5 GHz bands. The USB output to a DAC is galvanically isolated and reclocked, and it carries PCM from 44.1 to 384 kHz at 32 bits plus native DSD from DSD64 to DSD512, with DSD128 available as DoP. The same resolution is sent to UPnP renderers over the network, and Chromecast is supported as a third route. The case is 250 x 70 x 250 mm and weighs 4.8 kg, and power draw is 21 W.
Engineering and use context
Because Audirvāna is built in, the DSAS handles Qobuz, Tidal, HIGHRESAUDIO and Presto Music, along with internet radio and podcasts, from the same interface as local files. The software offers upsampling with the SoX or r8brain engines up to DSD256, a 10-band parametric equaliser, convolution, crossfeed and balance control, plus mixed playlists, favourites and metadata retrieval. The purchase covers Audirvāna Studio for three years and an Origin licence without expiry, so local playback keeps working once the subscription ends. The chassis follows the 25 cm footprint shared by the other Digital Sharing units, and the specified operating range is 5 to 35 degrees C at 5 to 90 percent humidity.
Pairing
The DSAS has no analogue output, so it needs an external converter. Métronome's DSC mini converter accepts native DSD512 on its USB input and matches the case size for stacking, while any USB DAC or UPnP network renderer handling the same PCM resolution can take its place. Owners of a NAS can leave their library in place and let the server index it over Ethernet.
Alternatives
Métronome lists no other music server with internal storage, as the DSAS is the only server in its current catalogue.
