The SUB V-16 F is a front-firing 16 inch powered subwoofer from DALI and, by the maker's own description, the most powerful subwoofer it has launched for high-end home audio. DALI first displayed it at the 2025 Munich High End fair and formally launched at ISE 2026 in Barcelona on 6 February 2026, priced at USD 9,000 in the US. Earlier DALI subwoofers were compact designs meant to blend into living rooms, reaching a little below 25 Hz.

Key specs that matter

A single 406 mm long-throw driver with an anodised aluminium diaphragm is driven by a DSP-controlled Class D amplifier rated at 1,500 W RMS continuous and 2,500 W peak. Linear travel is plus or minus 16 mm, and peak-to-peak excursion reaches 70 mm. In-room response is 19 Hz to 200 Hz within 3 dB through the line input and 19 Hz to 500 Hz through the LFE input. Maximum level is 122 dB at 1 m. The low-pass filter adjusts between 40 Hz and 200 Hz, and input impedance is 9 kohm. The veneered cabinet is 570.5 mm high, 520 mm wide and 560 mm deep, weighs 55 kg and comes in Black Ash.

Engineering and use context

The driver uses Constant Surface Surround, or CSS, a surround design that DALI says increases linear excursion, suppresses self-resonance and lowers overall distortion. The enclosure is vented, with four Continuous Flare reflex ports tuned to 18 Hz, just below the rated lower limit. The cabinet is built as an ultra-rigid box. The sub has earned THX Certified Dominus status, the highest THX residential grade and the one aimed at large home cinemas, after testing above 120 dB. DALI states that one unit can fill rooms of up to 185 m3. A control panel on the front gives access to volume, gain, phase and three sound modes named Cinema, Music and Boost.

Pairing

Inputs comprise two unbalanced RCA and two balanced XLR sockets, each able to take a stereo, mono or LFE signal. The sub can therefore be fed from the bass management output of an AV receiver or surround processor, from the subwoofer output of a stereo preamplifier, or over long balanced cables from a processor in a separate rack. In a two-channel system with full-range towers, the line input and its adjustable low-pass filter let the V-16 F take over only below the point where the main speakers roll off.

The DALI SUB K-14 F is a smaller powered model built around a 14 inch aluminium long-stroke driver, a 500 W Class D amplifier and a 44 litre MDF cabinet.
