Сабвуферы — Kyron Audio JUPITER

The Jupiter is the subwoofer of Phoenix, the home music system from Kyron Audio Pty Ltd of Australia. Kyron designs and delivers each of its systems as a turnkey package complete with amplifiers, cables and installation, and Phoenix is made up of seven elements conceived from the outset to work as one whole, with the Jupiter responsible for the subsonic range.

Key specs that matter

A single 15 inch ultra long throw driver with low distortion and low inductance does the work, fitted with a proprietary composite cone and copper inductance control. Kyron describes it as larger than the subwoofers of its other systems. The built-in ultra low distortion amplifier is rated at 2500 W, and the onboard DSP runs at 96 kHz with low latency.

Engineering and use context

Phoenix main speakers carry open-backed dipole bass panels with three 15 inch long throw woofers each, above which sit a 12 inch upper bass dipole woofer, a 7 inch midwoofer with the patented SD-3 symmetrical drive motor, and 1 inch and 3/4 inch ring dome tweeters. The dipole panels can reach far down on their own, and the Jupiter takes the heaviest subsonic load from them so they can work with more precision. Signal processing in the Phoenix control unit comes from DEQX, with linear phase FIR crossovers placed before the power amplifiers, and the main speakers are driven by eight channels of Halcro Lyrus amplification in mono block construction.

Pairing

The Jupiter receives its signal from the balanced XLR subwoofer output of the Phoenix control unit. That unit accepts balanced XLR and RCA analogue sources, AES/EBU, coaxial S/PDIF on RCA and BNC, Toslink optical and asynchronous USB audio, and it is operated by touch screen or remote control. Kyron offers custom paint, carbon fibre and real gold or silver highlights for the system.

Alternatives

The Kyron Mercury is the brand's smaller subwoofer, with a 12 inch ultra long throw driver on an aluminium cone, offered as an option for Kronos and in a stainless steel legged edition for Gaia.
