The SR35 comes from Perreaux of New Zealand as a narrow two-way tower, the company best known for its amplifiers, and it marked the brand's entry into loudspeakers in 2014 as part of the Audiant range. It was launched at NZD 3,995 per pair, in 2025 it sold at USD 6,695 per pair, and the current New Zealand price is NZD 10,745. The drivers come from the Norwegian maker SEAS and are arranged in a D'Appolito, or MTM, arrangement, the tweeter mounted between the pair of woofers.

Key specs that matter

Two 130 mm long-throw woofers with coated paper cones flank a 22 mm Sonomex dome tweeter, crossing over at 2,650 Hz. Perreaux quotes a response of 45 Hz to 20 kHz within 2.5 dB, and 33 Hz to 30 kHz at the -6 dB points. Nominal impedance is 4 ohm with a minimum of 3.2 ohm. Sensitivity is 93 dB SPL at 2.83 V and 1 m, a voltage that equals about 2 W into this 4 ohm load. Power handling is 120 W continuous and 250 W peak. The cabinet measures 160 mm wide, 315 mm deep and 1,040 mm tall, growing to 230 x 340 x 1,065 mm with the feet and spikes fitted, and each speaker weighs 22 kg.

Engineering and use context

Perreaux CNC machines the front baffle from a 12 mm thick block of solid aluminium, and this plate holds the drivers rigidly and damps resonances where they mount. Inside, internal bracing and extensive acoustic damping reduce cabinet resonances, standing waves and stray reflections. The reflex port faces the rear and is shaped to limit port noise and low frequency compression. The woofers use lightweight voice coils wound with copper-clad aluminium wire, and the tweeter has a wide surround. In the crossover Perreaux uses low-loss air core inductors and polypropylene capacitors. The tweeter sits off-centre on the baffle, and pairs are mirrored - on the left speaker it sits to the right and on the right speaker to the left. Brushed aluminium braces act as feet, taking screw-in spikes, and eight spike shoes are supplied to protect floors. Cabinets are hand finished in walnut, rimu or mahogany veneer, or painted satin white or satin black.

Pairing

Perreaux recommends amplifiers of 25 to 150 W, and with the low minimum impedance the safer match is a transistor design comfortable with low impedance loads. The brand's own Audiant 80i integrated falls inside that window. The binding post terminals are supplied with jumpers fitted.

Alternatives

Perreaux later added the Audiant SR58, a much heavier floorstander standing 1,210 mm tall, weighing 104 kg and reaching down to 27 Hz at the lower cutoff.
