The Signature 40 is the floorstanding model of the Signature line from System Audio of Denmark, launched on 12 October 2024 at USD 1,999 per pair. The range was created for buyers who want a minimal look, with cabinets meant to blend into modern homes, and it also includes the Signature 5 monitor, the Signature 6 and Signature 10 wall models and the Signature 8 subwoofer. At launch the Signature 5 cost USD 999 per pair, the Signature 6 USD 799 per pair, the Signature 10 USD 699 each and the Signature 8 USD 1,099 each.

Key specs that matter

System Audio builds this ported three-way around one Signature DXT tweeter, one 5.5 inch Signature 15/4 midrange and two 5.5 inch Signature 15/6 bass drivers. The tweeter is a 25 mm soft dome. Frequency range is 30 Hz to 25,000 Hz, sensitivity is 90 dB at 1 W and 1 m, and impedance is 4 ohm. Load capacity is 300 W. The cabinet measures 16.5 cm wide, 95 cm high and 24.9 cm deep, and the plinth measures 21.5 by 29 cm.

Engineering and use context

System Audio developed the drivers in house for this range. The tweeter uses a low-mass woven-fibre diaphragm with a neodymium magnet, which allows it to work down to a lower crossover frequency. The midrange and bass units have light, low-distortion fibreglass cones driven by an extended motor, and the brand says this lets each diaphragm move 40 per cent more air than a traditional speaker. The patented DXT acoustic lens mounted ahead of the dome spreads treble across the listening space. Giving the midrange its own driver separates it from the two bass units, so the woofers handle only the lowest band. Cabinets come in black satin or white satin with a fabric grille matching the cabinet colour. A 7-year factory warranty applies once the speakers are registered with System Audio.

Pairing

System Audio says the Signature 40 needs just 50 W from the connected electronics, which puts compact integrated amplifiers and streaming amplifiers within reach, as long as they stay stable into a low impedance. The generous load capacity leaves headroom for more powerful amplification. The Signature 8 subwoofer, with its 600 W amplifier, can extend a system built around these towers.
