The R 10 Arreté sits at the top of the R series of floorstanders from the Danish company Audiovector, above the R 8. Audiovector presented it to the public during High End 2025 in Munich that May, and launch pricing was GBP 127,500, USD 165,000 or EUR 147,500 per pair. The Arreté name marks the trim that carries Audiovector's Freedom Grounding and its most elaborate crossover parts.
Key specs that matter
Each cabinet holds 13 drivers. Two AMT N51 air motion transformers with 3,800 mm2 of diaphragm area face forward - the main unit runs from 3,000 Hz to 53,000 Hz and the second adds output from 20,000 Hz upward. Below them sit a 6.5 inch AFC carbon sandwich midrange and two lower midrange cones of the same type and size, while eight 5 inch long-throw bass drivers with 12 mm of linear travel in each direction are mounted on the rear. The five-way network divides the signal at 180 Hz, 450 Hz, 3,000 Hz and 20,000 Hz. Audiovector lists a range of 21 Hz to 53,000 Hz and sensitivity of 90 dB/W, with an average impedance of 8 ohm that falls to a 5 ohm minimum, and distortion is 0.15 percent at 90 dB SPL. Size without spikes is 156 cm high, 36.5 cm wide and 62.7 cm deep, and weight is about 95 kg per speaker.
Engineering and use context
The rear line of eight woofers adds up to a radiating area close to that of a single 15 inch cone, and together they deliver the low end evenly into the listening space. The teardrop cabinet is vacuum-formed from high-density hardwood fibreboard with extensive internal bracing and carries baffles of 6061 grade aluminium to suppress vibration, and the enclosure is rear-ported. Crossover parts include precision film resistors, copper coils in a dynamic feed-forward layout, doubly cryogenically treated polypropylene capacitors, tin-flashed copper foil capacitors and Audiovector X Duelund bypass capacitors. The second generation of the Freedom Grounding system routes movement-induced distortion to earth through a separate filter. The finishes are Canadian Birdseye Maple, African Mahogany Crotch and Italian Walnut Burl, all piano lacquered.
Pairing
The moderate impedance minimum and high sensitivity mean the R 10 Arreté does not need an extreme amplifier, but its size and bass output point to powerful stereo or mono amplification with high current capability. High Current Nextgen bi-wire terminals accept 4 mm plugs or spades, which lets woofers and upper range drivers take separate runs of cable or separate amplifier channels.
Alternatives
The Audiovector R 8 Arreté is the next floorstander down, a five-way design with an isobaric 8 and 6.5 inch bass system, 92.5 dB sensitivity and 500 W handling.
