The Premier 820F v2 is the bigger and pricier of the two towers in Paradigm's second-generation Premier series, developed at the company's Canadian headquarters. The maker presents v2 as a ground-up redesign drawing on its higher Founder series, with new drivers, braced MDF cabinets and fresh finish choices. The price is USD 1,299.99 per speaker, and in Japan a pair costs JPY 550,000, with sales there starting on 20 September 2026.

Key specs that matter

Paradigm builds it as a bass-reflex three-way system with four drivers. The 1 inch AL-MAC ceramic dome tweeter uses ferro-fluid damping and is mounted in an Oblate Spheroid Waveguide with a PPA lens. A 6 inch AL-MAG midrange, also fronted by a PPA lens, relies on a 2 inch multi-layer coil built for high temperatures. Two 7 inch ultra-high-excursion Carbon-X unibody woofers with Gen3 ART surrounds and 1 inch coils cover the bass. Second-order filters sit at 1.8 kHz and 450 Hz. Response is 52 Hz to 23 kHz within 3 dB on axis and 52 Hz to 20 kHz at 30 degrees, and DIN extension reaches 21 Hz. Sensitivity is 93 dB in room or 90 dB anechoic into 8 ohm. Paradigm lists a suitable range of 15 to 250 W with maximum input of 180 W. The cabinet is 110.2 cm high, 33.3 cm wide and 47.2 cm deep, and weighs 29.5 kg.

Engineering and use context

Every Carbon-X woofer cone is formed as one piece with no joints or glue, a construction Paradigm credits with tighter control and less breakup when played loud. The AL-MAG midrange former is a ventilated Apical type. Outrigger Shock-Mount feet are fitted, adjustable and supplied with spikes for carpet and rubber caps for hard surfaces. Buyers choose Piano Black lacquer or Walnut and Black Walnut veneers. Compared with the 720F v2, it moves the crossover points, uses larger woofers and adds depth and mass, so it suits rooms of 20 m2 and above.

Pairing

The high in-room sensitivity and the wide recommended power band mean both entry stereo amplifiers and multichannel receivers are suitable partners. A 620C v2 or 520LCR v2 centre with coaxial Dual-Sync motors completes a front stage built on the same drivers, at USD 1,299.99 or USD 899.99 respectively. Paradigm explains that the Perforated Phase-Aligning lens filters out-of-phase output so every frequency arrives together, while the waveguide limits energy sent toward walls and ceiling. The Carbon-X woofers replace the cones used in the first Premier generation.
