The PMC10 XBD is a two-cabinet active main monitor system from PMC (The Professional Monitor Company), shown at NAMM in January 2026 within the Main Monitor Series that the British firm launched for its 35th anniversary. It pairs a standard PMC10 three-way loudspeaker with a second, identical enclosure that holds only a bass driver. PMC aims the combination at stereo and multichannel work in large music tracking and mix rooms, film and TV post-production, mastering suites and facilities that deliver content to streaming services.
Key specs that matter
The primary cabinet carries a hand-built 34 mm soft-dome tweeter, a PMC75v3 soft-dome midrange and a 10-inch bass driver, and the XBD enclosure adds a second 10-inch unit of the same type. On its own the PMC10 is rated from 23 Hz to 25 kHz with a 2.8 m effective transmission line. With the extra cabinet, maximum continuous SPL rises to 115 dB and peak SPL to 129.5 dB, against 109 dB and 123.5 dB for a single PMC10. Amplifier power per channel totals 3,600 W - 800 W for the tweeter, 800 W for the midrange and 1,000 W for each bass driver. Both enclosures measure 770 mm high, 355 mm wide and 420 mm deep, plus 10 mm for the woofer surround. The three-way box weighs 52 kg and the bass box 42 kg, making 94 kg per side.
Engineering and use context
The two 10-inch drivers are wired in parallel, doubling the cone area and extending power handling and bass headroom rather than adding a separate subwoofer channel. Each bass unit was designed in-house for the current ATL cabinet, which vents through LaminairX openings. The midrange uses the a-void damping chamber and the n-compass waveguide, and the tweeter and midrange are mounted on a panel that rotates, so the main cabinet works upright or on its side. The pair can stand as a vertical or horizontal stack, or sit next to each other in a soffit wall. An illuminated logo shows system status. A single master36 rack unit per channel drives both boxes with Class-D amplifiers and handles the digital crossover, excursion limiting and preset storage.
Pairing
Because amplification and crossover sit in the master36, the system connects directly to a console, monitor controller or interface through analogue or digital inputs up to 192 kHz. Setup runs over a standard LAN in the SoundAlign2 browser interface. Shared dispersion and voicing across the series let PMC10 XBD pairs work alongside other models from the series in surround and Dolby Atmos Music layouts.
Alternatives
The PMC12 XBD is the next dual-cabinet system in the Main Monitor Series, built around the PMC12 three-way cabinet.
