The PMC10-4 XBD is the dual-cabinet configuration of the PMC10-4 main monitor, made by PMC in Biggleswade, England, and unveiled at NAMM in January 2026 with the rest of the Main Monitor Series. The system joins a PMC10-4 three-way cabinet with an XBD cabinet of the same size that contains only bass drivers, giving ten drivers per side. Like the single PMC10-4, it follows the architecture and visual style of the QB1, which PMC created in close collaboration with engineers at Capitol Studios, and it is aimed at large control rooms for recording and mixing.

Key specs that matter

Eight in-house 10-inch ultra-long-throw woofers, four in each cabinet, handle the low frequencies, while a 34 mm soft-dome tweeter and a PMC75v3 midrange sit in the main enclosure. Each cabinet has an effective ATL length of 3.4 m. Rated frequency response is 19.5 Hz to 25 kHz. Maximum continuous SPL is 116.5 dB and maximum peak SPL is 140.5 dB, 6 dB above the single-cabinet version. Per channel the amplifiers supply 9,600 W in total, with 800 W each for tweeter and midrange and 1,000 W for every woofer. Both enclosures measure 820 mm high, 1,040 mm wide and 523 mm deep plus 10 mm of surround, and the three-way box weighs 140 kg against 130 kg for the bass box, 270 kg per side.

Engineering and use context

Each channel needs one master36 DSP and amplifier unit and three power20 amplifiers. High and mid frequencies plus two of the bass units in the main cabinet take their power from the master36. The second pair in the main cabinet and both pairs in the XBD enclosure each run from their own power20, and PMC's masterlink system links all four units. Since every unit is a 3U chassis, one side of the system occupies 12U of rack space and a stereo pair 24U. Both cabinets use the current ATL design with LaminairX vents, and each carries a discreet illuminated logo that reports status. The midrange and tweeter share the n-compass waveguide for controlled dispersion, and the whole amplifier chain is Class-D. Digital crossovers and protection are programmed in the master36.

Pairing

Inputs on the master36 accept analogue signals and digital audio at up to 192 kHz, so the system can be fed directly from a console or a dedicated monitor controller without extra amplification. Configuration of EQ, delay, polarity and crossover settings runs in PMC's SoundAlign2 web interface over a wired Ethernet connection. For surround and Dolby Atmos Music rooms, the series shares dispersion characteristics across models, so models of different sizes can be combined in one room.

Alternatives

The PMC PMC15 XBD is the dual-cabinet system built around the 15-inch woofer, with two such drivers and 5,600 W per channel.
