KLH Audio built the Model Four as a compact three-way tower speaker. The company is the American firm that revived one of the oldest names in domestic hi-fi. Unveiled at High End Vienna 2026 and on sale from September 2026, it was created to fill the gap between the Model Three and the Model Five in the Model Collection, pairing the 8 inch woofer of the Model Three with the midrange, tweeter and crossover approach of the Model Five. Pricing is USD 999.99, EUR 999 or GBP 899 per speaker.

Key specs that matter

Drivers are an 8 inch pulp-paper woofer and a 4 inch pulp-paper midrange, both on reverse roll rubber surrounds, and a 1 inch tweeter whose aluminium dome is held by a soft rubber suspension. The midrange and tweeter are the same units developed for the Model Five. The crossover hands over at 380 Hz and 2,500 Hz with second-order electro-acoustic slopes. KLH quotes 46 Hz to 20 kHz within 3 dB and an in-room sensitivity of 88 dB at 2.83 V and 1 m. Nominal impedance is 6 ohm, falling to a 3.5 ohm minimum at 120 Hz. Power handling is 150 W, with 600 W peak, and the recommended amplifier range is 30 to 150 W. Maximum output is given as 108 dB in-room.

Engineering and use context

KLH builds the cabinet as a sealed acoustic suspension design in structurally reinforced MDF, a format KLH says keeps bass behaviour consistent when the speaker stands close to walls or corners. Without its riser the cabinet stands 66 cm high, 33 cm wide and 21 cm deep, which makes it the shallowest model in the current collection. A matte black steel riser base tilts the speaker back by 6 degrees and brings the dimensions to 81.8 cm high and 27.7 cm deep. A rear three-position Acoustic Balance Control lowers midrange and treble output by 1.5 dB or 3 dB. Five-way gold-plated binding posts accept the speaker cable, and a magnetic grille covers the wide baffle. Finishes are English Walnut with a Stonewash Knit grille, Black Ash with Grey Knit and White Oak with Black Knit, all real wood veneer, and KLH covers the speaker with a 10-year warranty.

Pairing

Because the impedance falls far under its nominal figure in the bass region, an amplifier that copes with low impedances is the safer choice, within the power range KLH recommends. Single binding posts mean one run of cable per speaker, and the sealed cabinet leaves the rear free of any port opening. The speaker can be bought singly or as a pair.
