The LS60 Wireless Lotus Edition is a special finish of KEF's LS60 Wireless active floorstanding speaker, created with the Lotus car company and launched in July 2023 at USD 7,999 per pair. The engineering, drivers and electronics are the same as the standard LS60 Wireless, which cost USD 5,999.99, and the edition is identified by its British Racing Green paint. KEF has not published a production limit for it.
Key specs that matter
Each column has a Uni-Q array with a 19 mm vented aluminium tweeter dome and MAT inside a 100 mm aluminium midrange cone. Bass comes from four 135 mm aluminium drivers per speaker, mounted in opposing pairs on the sides. Amplification is 500 W Class D for bass, 100 W Class D for midrange and 100 W Class AB for the tweeter, which KEF sums to 1,400 W for the system. Crossover points are 340 Hz and 3.1 kHz. Frequency response is 31 Hz to 24 kHz at ±3 dB and 26 Hz to 36 kHz at -6 dB, with 111 dB maximum output. Inputs include HDMI eARC, optical, coaxial, RCA analogue and Ethernet for the network and the interspeaker link, while the subwoofer output supports up to two KEF subs. Each speaker is 1,090 x 212 x 394 mm including the plinth, and the pair weighs 62.4 kg, or 31.2 kg per speaker.
Engineering and use context
The side-firing bass drivers use KEF's Uni-Core force-cancelling layout, with opposed pairs whose movements cancel the reactive forces on the cabinet and so reduce vibration. This lets four drivers fit into a slim 212 mm wide column. MAT behind the tweeter absorbs rear radiation from the dome, and the Music Integrity Engine applies the DSP for each driver. Streaming covers AirPlay 2, Chromecast, Roon Ready, UPnP and Bluetooth 5.0 over dual-band Wi-Fi. The network input handles 24 bit and 384 kHz, coaxial 192 kHz and optical 96 kHz, and file support includes FLAC, WAV, AIFF, ALAC, AAC, WMA, MP3, M4A, Ogg Vorbis, MQA and DSD. A USB-A socket is for service only. Operating consumption is 450 W and standby is below 2 W.
Pairing
A television uses HDMI eARC, and a turntable with an external phono stage or a CD player feeds the RCA input. The speakers need only network and mains connections. Given how deep the columns reach on their own, a subwoofer is optional, and one or two KEF subs can be connected to the dedicated output when a home cinema calls for more low-frequency output.
Alternatives
KEF also makes the R7 Meta, a passive floorstanding loudspeaker from its R Series.
