The Jasper 25 mkII is a passive floor-standing model built by Pylon Audio of Poland and the tallest member of its Jasper series, which also includes the Jasper 23 tower and the Jasper monitor 18 standmount. It uses a 2.5-way reflex-loaded design whose three drive units come from the Danish maker Scan-Speak, and Pylon offers the same cabinet as an active version with built-in amplification. In the United States the passive pair lists at USD 14,995.

Two Scan-Speak 18W/8531G00 woofers of 18 cm, from the Revelator range, share the low end, and a Scan-Speak D2608/913000 silk dome tweeter covers the top octaves. Pylon quotes a frequency range of 32 Hz to 20 kHz, a nominal impedance of 4 ohm and an efficiency of 90 dB. Power handling is given as 120 W nominal and 250 W maximum. Each speaker measures 200 mm wide, 1066 mm high and 413 mm deep and weighs 31 kg. The maker lists a dedicated room size of 25 to 50 m2.

Engineering and use context

In a 2.5-way design both woofers work together in the bass, while only one continues higher to meet the tweeter, which lets a slim baffle carry two cones without a separate midrange unit. The Scan-Speak woofers have characteristic notches in their cones that Pylon says are there to reduce distortion, and the tweeter has a very light moving system with a diaphragm weighing only 0.18 g. The cabinet is made of high-grade MDF with internal reinforcement, while its front and back panels are made in a sandwich construction. Both the front and the back are curved, a shape Pylon chose to prevent standing waves from forming inside the enclosure. The speaker stands on a dedicated plinth intended to limit how much cabinet vibration passes to the floor. Pylon fits double terminals so that owners may bi-amp or bi-wire, and a magnetic grille is supplied. Finish options include American Walnut and Morocco Ebony veneers, white or black in either high gloss or matte, and individual high gloss or matte lacquer in any colour from the RAL palette.

The Jasper 25 mkII wants an amplifier that handles low-impedance loads comfortably, with output within the nominal power rating Pylon gives. Through the split terminals, two stereo amplifiers can feed the woofers and the tweeter from separate channels. Buyers who prefer to skip a separate power amplifier can choose the active version instead, which carries a Class D module with 150 W per driver for 450 W in total and can stream digitally when combined with the Pylon Audio Stereo Hub.
