The EXTREME is a four-way passive tower built by Estelon, the Estonian brand of Alfred & Partners in Tallinn. In its current Mk II form it combines a marble-based composite cabinet with an upper module that rises and lowers by remote control, and a Limited Edition in Dark Silver is signed by founder and chief designer Alfred Vassilkov.
Key specs that matter
Five Accuton CELL drivers are fitted - two 250 mm aluminium sandwich woofers and a 250 mm aluminium sandwich mid-woofer, all custom designs, plus a 168 mm ceramic membrane midrange and a 25 mm diamond tweeter. The upper frequency limit is 60,000 Hz, with the response linear to 33,000 Hz. Estelon gives a power rating of 500 W and a nominal impedance of 3 ohm with a minimum of 2.0 ohm at 95 Hz, and sensitivity is 91 dB at 2.83 V. The height runs from 1770 to 2070 mm, width is 690 mm and depth 820 mm, and each loudspeaker weighs 250 kg net. The suggested room size is 50 to 200 m2.
Engineering and use context
A linear actuator driven from a remote control moves the upper module through up to 300 mm and returns it to exact, repeatable positions, with built-in safety. A motorised camshaft adjusts the depth of the diamond tweeter in five steps. The cabinet has curved walls, none of them parallel, and gives every driver its own internal enclosure with damping materials and shaped chambers. The two woofers sit near the floor and work symmetrically under the Symmetric Driver Loading principle, venting through a rear bass reflex tunnel with internal damping. The curved front panel keeps the drivers time-aligned, and a suede-covered foam ring around the baffle reduces diffraction. Crossover parts include SESGO capacitors, thick-foil and Supreme resistors, Mundorf inductors and Goertz flat foil coils. The filters sit in isolated chambers and use a proprietary flat foil direct coupling that routes the signal through a central conductor in a star-grounded layout. Every part is hand-soldered and cable runs are kept short. Internal wiring is by Kubala-Sosna. Finishes cover high gloss, matte and bespoke colours, each applied as a 12-layer paint process polished by hand over several weeks. The Limited Edition adds polished stainless-steel rims around each driver and a Black Pearl Gloss upper module.
Pairing
Estelon states a minimum amplifier power of 20 W, and the very low impedance minimum means the partnering amplifier has to cope with a very low load.
Alternatives
The Estelon Forza Ultra is the second-generation Forza, a sealed four-way tower rated at 400 W.
