The Enarghia is a powered three-way floor-standing system from AKu Audio, a loudspeaker maker based in Athens, Greece, with a showroom in Kifissia. The company says it took five years of research and development, delivered as two speaker cabinets together with a separate multichannel amplifier and a digital processor. AKu Audio calls it a true full-range stereo set, and every electronic stage needed for the drivers is part of the package.
Key specs that matter
Every enclosure houses two 12 inch aluminium high-excursion woofers loaded by four 12 inch aluminium passive radiators in asymmetric chambers, a pair of 4.7 inch paper cone midrange units with neodymium magnets and under-hung motors, and a 1.34 inch high-excursion tweeter whose dome is beryllium, driven by a neo motor. A custom 8-channel Ncore amplifier supplies 3,500 W in total, split as 1,000 W for bass, 500 W for midrange and 250 W for treble, with THD+N of 0.006 percent at half power and 92 percent efficiency. In-room response is quoted as 12 Hz to 40 kHz at 0 to minus 3 dB and 25 Hz to 22 kHz within plus or minus 0.5 dB, with maximum SPL of 120 dB. Each speaker measures 1,825 mm high, 400 mm wide and 610 mm deep and weighs 130 kg.
Engineering and use context
Crossover duties fall to a DEQX digital processor, one per pair, running linear phase filters with slopes up to 200 dB per octave. It offers four programs - Maximally Flat, Harman Curve, Party Mode and user slots. Inputs cover five digital connections across Toslink, S/PDIF, AES/EBU and USB, plus RCA and XLR analogue, and six balanced XLR outputs feed the amplifier. An integrated Dynavector phono stage with 0.001 percent THD handles vinyl, and streaming support includes Tidal, Qobuz, UPnP-DLNA, Roon and AirPlay. The amplifier chassis is 160 x 570 x 400 mm and 15 kg, while the processor is 110 x 380 x 300 mm and 5 kg. Cabinets are offered in Ivory Black, Titanium White, Merlot Red and Magic Blue, and owners can add a personalised laser-etched stainless plaque.
Pairing
With amplification, crossover, phono stage and streaming all supplied, a turntable, a network connection or a digital transport is all that has to be added. A shelf or rack has to take both the amplifier and the processor, and the floor must carry two heavy cabinets in a space of around 20 m2 or larger.
Alternatives
For a smaller option, the Talos from AKu Audio is an active three-way floorstander from the same maker, using a single 12 inch woofer and a 6-channel Ncore amplifier.
